Absinthe History
There is a variety of drinks and cocktails all around the world that are served in bars and parties, but there is a specific drink that is getting popular really fast all over the world. Some people are tired of drinking the same old stuff, Tequila, Vodka, Brandy, Rum, they all are the same and people have already tried them. But the drink that many people are talking about is not new; this drink is ancient liquor that was originally made in the 18th century. This alcoholic beverage is known as Absinth, and is known for many people through many years as the green fairy, named given for its greenish color and the strong effects that it may cause.

The Absinth or Absinthe was originally made in France in the 18th century at the beginning for medical purposes, but the active ingredient of this drink, thujon was not allowed to be in beverages in France so it was banned. Then the Czech Republic began its production, then it changed form being Absinthe to Absinth, but its more common to call it Absinth. The Czech Republic did not regulate the amounts of thujon used on drinks so it made it the preferred country for the production of Absinth, and it made it just a little different from the one produced by France. The different ways and distillers gave each Absinth a different touch from the Czech brands, the Absinth is very different and special from other drinks because of the blended mixture of herbs.

Another fact that has given popularity to this drink, is the recognition of many popular and important users that drank this liquor and made it public. Among many artists, inventors and innovators form the 18th and 19th century is Picasso, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh and Oscar Wilde. These people gave much recognition to the greenish liquor and even admitted of being inspired by it. Some of these artists made poems of feeling good and describing the experience as relaxing and beautiful, while others created sculptures or paintings like Picasso, but the most amazing rumor is thatt Van Gogh’s famous accident (of cutting his ear off) was caused because he was under the influence of absinthe.

The truth is that this drink was recognized through the 18th and 19th centuries but now it’s back and stronger than ever in many countries and states. It is important to know that this drink is very storng and just like all the alcoholic drinks it should be taken seriously and only drank with moderation to make sure that accidents do not happen due to this drink.
