Felicia Culotta - who worked for Britney for over nine years and has been described as a personal assistant, chaperone, and a friend - has written to an internet fansite insisting the singer will hit rock bottom if she doesn't get help now.
Since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline, Britney has been seen drinking, partying and was photographed without underwear on several occasions.
Her posting on Thatotherblog.com read: "I loved being with Britney for the past nine-and-a-half years. I enjoyed being a part of her dream.
"I cherish all the incredible opportunities that came my way through my job with Britney and am crushed/saddened/heart sick by the way her life is unfolding.
"I want you to know that we (as in her family and nearest and dearest - all of whom are not on the payroll anymore!!) are doing everything in our power to get help for Britney.
"And we are doing all in our power to NOT pad the bottom, so when she does indeed hit rock bottom, she'll stand up and walk away from this whole fiasco a new, confident, changed, career driven Britney like the one we all knew and loved.
"To see what's transpiring now makes me feel a failure, defeated. I loved and believed in what I was a part of for the past 10 years and was so incredibly proud of Britney and all she'd become."
Culotta also says she has given up trying to save the star, after Britney refused any help and advice offered.
She writes: "There's just so much you can do to help a person - I don't dare want to be an enabler, and I cannot love her enough for the both of us. I cannot convince her in any way to love herself.
"I'm so Southern, and the best way for me to tell you how I feel is to say you can only kick an old dog so many times before he gets off the porch.
Britney Spears' former assistant has revealed the singer's friends and family want her to go to rehab.
You have to hit a mental, spiritual, emotional kind of bottom,” Rogg said. “It’s that place where you are too afraid to go on living and too afraid to die.”
This breaking news comes just days after Britney shaved her head, and on Monday, Extra discovered new clues that may explain why Brit gave herself a buzz cut.
OK! Weekly has revealed that Kevin and Britney had a huge argument. “Kevin threatened Britney that he was going to have people test her hair to find out exactly what she’s been up to. She was so scared. That was what made her have her head shaved.”

Britney Spears' ex heads to court
While pop star Britney Spears is raising eyebrows by going in and out of rehab, her estranged husband Kevin Federline is raising new issues about custody of their children.
LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears' decision to check into rehab could help her in court as she to tries to retain custody of her two young children with estranged husband Kevin Federline, according to family law attorneys. That is, of course, if she actually completes a rehab program.
When Spears checked into Promises Malibu drug and alcohol rehabilitation center Thursday, it was said to be the third time in a week she has checked into a rehab center.
"It actually may reflect well on her that she's now gone back, if she stays and sees herself through the program," said Jason Adess, a family law attorney in Chicago. "That way she can present to the court that she has an issue, she has acknowledged the issue, she has gotten help and now she is able to resume primary custody of the children."
Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Thursday that Spears is in the Malibu center. He provided no further details.
The 25-year-old pop star reportedly first checked into Promises on Tuesday, then left Wednesday morning, returning that night after visiting with lawyers and her family. Late last week she reportedly checked into a rehab center in the Caribbean, only to leave the next day.
Another family law attorney, Joshua Forman of New York, said such a merry-go-round approach to rehab isn't that unusual for people new to the process. It takes awhile, he said, for someone to admit they have a substance abuse problem and to feel comfortable being treated in a confined program that can last four to six weeks.
"There's ins and outs and a lot of false starts with this sort of stuff," he said Thursday, adding he has had several clients go in and out of rehab. Often, he said, family members and friends must intervene and persuade people that for the good of themselves and their children they must stay.
If they do, Forman said, courts are often willing to forgive the false starts.
"As long as she finishes what she's done, goes in, gets help, gets treatment and stays clean, the court will look positively on that," he said.
Hours after Spears checked into Promises, Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, canceled an appearance in family court he had scheduled for Thursday and announced that no hearings in the couple's child custody case are scheduled for the future.
Neither Kaplan nor Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser, responded to messages Thursday asking who was caring for Spears' children in her absence.
Under a temporary agreement reached in January, Spears and Federline have joint custody of their sons, Jayden James, 5 months, and Sean Preston, 17 months. Spears was granted custodial custody, with Federline allowed lengthy visits on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The order expires at the end of this month.
Spears filed for divorce from the 28-year-old aspiring rapper in November, citing irreconcilable differences.
Since then she has engaged in bizarre public behavior. It culminated last weekend when, after reportedly leaving rehab the first time, she arrived at a hair salon and shaved her head bald, moved on to a tattoo parlor where she had red-and-pink lips inked onto her wrist, then went club-hopping across Los Angeles.

Britney Spears fends off the paparazzi with an umbrella
The star has made herself the centre of a media frenzy this week after yo-yoing through rehabilitation centres and sensationally shaving her head in public. On Wednesday night she sat quietly in the passenger seat of the car for a few moments. As the ordeal continued at a petrol station later on, however, she lost control.
The star's companion can be heard pleading with the paparazzi to leave her alone - until she is interrupted by a livid Britney, who apparently began physically attacking one of the paparazzi's cars and a cameraman. Loud crashes and swearing can be heard on the video, and later footage clearly shows cracked windows and dents, with one of the paparazzi pulling up his shirt to show what he claimed was more evidence of the star's attack.
The attack was blocked from the camera view by the car, but Spears' weapon of choice was reportedly an umbrella.
The pitiable incident is just one more in a list of surreal occurences over the last week as the full extent of Spears' condition is revealed before her shocked fans.
The mother-of-two has been told to stay in rehab or risk losing her children to her ex-husband. Today she is under 24-hour suicide watch after reentering the Malibu clinic she walked out of just 24 hours earlier following a showdown with Kevin Federline.
